The basic structure of a power cable consists of four components: the core (conductor), the insulation layer, the shielding layer, and the protective layer.

Core
The core serves as the conductive element of the power cable; it is responsible for transmitting electrical energy and constitutes the primary component of the cable.

Insulation Layer
The insulation layer electrically isolates the core from the ground, as well as from cores of different phases, thereby ensuring the effective transmission of electrical energy; it is an indispensable component within the power cable's structure.

Shielding Layer
Power cables rated at 15 kV and above typically incorporate both a conductor shielding layer and an insulation shielding layer.

Protective Layer
The function of the protective layer is to safeguard the power cable against the ingress of external contaminants and moisture, as well as to prevent direct physical damage caused by external forces.
