The signal from a K type thermocouple is at the millivolt level. It is easily affected by cold junction temperature changes. You cannot connect the thermocouple directly to the control room. You need a compensating wire in between.
Our Type K Precision Compensating Wire is a K type compensating wire. Its job is to move the cold junction of the thermocouple from the hot and unstable field location to the temperature controlled control room. It does not add extra thermal potential error along the transmission path.
The conductor is a special alloy wire. The positive pole uses nickel chromium 10 alloy. We call it KPX. The negative pole uses nickel silicon 3 alloy. We call it KNX. The chemical composition of these two materials strictly follows GB/T 4990 and IEC 60584-3 standards. This ensures their thermal potential temperature characteristic curve in the 0 to 100°C range matches the K type thermocouple itself.
The insulation and sheath are both general purpose PVC. PVC has good oil resistance and acid alkali resistance. The cost is low. It meets the requirements of ordinary industrial workshop environments. The operating temperature is -20°C to 100°C.
The sheath is usually black. The positive core insulation is red. The negative core is black. This color code is used worldwide. An installer can tell the positive from the negative at a glance. They will not reverse the connection.
This wire meets the precision grade S standard. In the 0 to 100°C range, the thermal potential error it compensates for is only ±1.0°C. In microvolts, that is about ±40μV. This is much better than the ordinary grade of ±2.5°C. Even if the transmission distance is several hundred meters, the error introduced is very small.
At 20°C, the insulation resistance is not less than 25 MΩ·km. The conductor DC resistance at 20°C meets the standard requirements. Signal attenuation is under control.
The Type K Precision Compensating Wire has a minimum bend radius of 6 times the cable outer diameter. When installing, make sure the polarity is never reversed. If you reverse it, the error will be bigger than not using a compensating wire at all.
Our factory has been making cables since 2001. That is 25 years now. We have our own R&D team. We meet local environmental regulations.
