Next to a steel furnace. Next to a glass melting furnace. The temperature in these places exceeds 150°C. Ordinary cable with XLPE insulation can only handle 90°C. It will age and fail from heat quickly. It fails in just a few months.
Our Power Cable FEP Insulated High-Temp is a high temperature power cable. Its insulation and sheath are both FEP, which is fluorinated ethylene propylene. We call it FEP or F46. Its operating temperature is -65°C to 200°C.
The conductor is tin plated copper or nickel plated copper. At 200°C, ordinary bare copper will oxidize quickly. After oxidizing, it turns into black copper oxide. The contact resistance increases sharply. The tin plating can handle 200°C. The nickel plating can handle 260°C. They effectively block oxygen.
The insulation layer is the core. We extrude it with FEP. The continuous working temperature of FEP can reach 200°C. It will not deform under 260°C for a short time. Its dielectric strength is very high. And it changes very little with temperature. The flame retardant rating reaches V-0, the highest level.
The sheath is also FEP material. It has very good chemical corrosion resistance. It handles strong acids, strong bases, and organic solvents with no problem. Its friction coefficient is very low.
Based on the Arrhenius thermal aging formula, the thermal life of FEP insulation at a constant 200°C can reach more than 20 years. XLPE insulation at 150°C lasts only a few months.
At 200°C, the insulation resistance of FEP still stays above 10⁴ MΩ·km. This is much higher than XLPE, which drops sharply at high temperatures. The dielectric loss tangent is stable over a wide frequency range. So it is good for VFD power supply.
The voltage rating is 0.6/1kV. Long term working temperature is -65°C to 200°C. Short circuit temperature is 280°C. Minimum bend radius is 8 times the cable outer diameter.
FEP material cost is quite high. It is about 5 to 8 times that of PVC. We suggest you only choose it when the ambient temperature is continuously above 125°C or there are strong corrosive chemicals.
Standard product lead time depends on quantity. We try our best to meet customer needs. The same goes for custom products. Monthly production capacity depends on the specifications. Different models have different output.
