A millivolt level thermocouple signal runs next to a 220V power cable. What happens? The instrument readings start jumping. Ordinary control cables cannot carry this kind of weak signal.
Our Shielded Computer Cable is a overall shielded instrumentation cable. It is used in power plants, metallurgy automation, and petrochemical plants. The DCS system and PLC send millivolt or microamp level signals to field instruments. Ordinary cables cannot do this job.
The conductor is multi strand annealed soft copper. We use Class 5 conductor. This gives good bending performance and easy wiring. The conductor resistance strictly follows GB/T 3956 Class 5 standard.
The insulation is polyethylene, not PVC. Polyethylene has a lower dielectric constant, about 2.3. It also has a very low dielectric loss tangent. This gives the cable a low capacitance of about 50 to 60 pF/m. Signal transmission loss is low. Transmission distance is longer.
After stranding, we use oxygen free copper wire or tin plated copper wire for high density braid shielding. The braid density is not less than 80%. This overall shielding blocks electromagnetic radiation from the outside, like magnetic fields from nearby large motors.
The outer layer is a PVC sheath. This provides basic moisture protection and corrosion protection.
The voltage rating is 300/500V. The long term working temperature is 70°C. If you choose XLPE insulation, it can reach 90°C. At 20°C, the insulation resistance is not less than 1000 MΩ·km. This is much higher than ordinary control cables. The measured working capacitance can be controlled below 0.06 μF/100m. This ensures complete pulse signal transmission.
The Shielded Computer Cable has no armour. Its minimum bend radius is 6 times the cable outer diameter. If the interference is very serious, we suggest upgrading to the version with pair shielding plus overall shielding.
