Small and medium buildings. Temporary fire facilities. Cost sensitive retrofit projects. These places need a cable. It must meet basic fire resistance requirements. It must keep power supply during a fire. It cannot be too expensive.
Our product is an economy fire resistant power cable. Its voltage rating is 0.6/1kV. It is a fire resistant upgrade of the VV power cable. It adds a mica tape fire resistant layer to the PVC insulation and sheath.
The conductor is Class 2 stranded copper conductor. This gives good conductivity and terminal crimping strength.
The core is the fire resistant layer. Outside the conductor, we wrap 2 layers of synthetic mica tape. The overlap rate is 25% or more. The mica tape sinters into a ceramic shell in a fire. It maintains insulation.
The insulation and sheath are PVC. The normal working temperature of PVC is 70°C. This is good enough for ordinary fire control circuits.
Compared to the same size NH-YJV, the material cost of NH-VV is 15% to 20% lower. This is because PVC material itself is cheaper than XLPE. And the processing energy is lower.
It meets GB/T 19216.21 Class B fire resistance standard. 750°C for 90 minutes. In a 750°C flame with rated voltage applied, the fuse does not trip for 90 minutes. Note: NH-VV generally does not claim to pass Class A 950°C fire resistance. Because at high temperatures, the PVC sheath produces a lot of HCl gas. It also softens. This may affect the mica tape structure.
The conductor working temperature is 70°C. Short circuit temperature is 160°C. Minimum bend radius is 10 times the cable outer diameter for non armoured. For armoured, it needs 15D.
The current carrying capacity of NH-VV is about 15% lower than NH-YJV. This is because of 70°C working temperature versus 90°C. When sizing, correct the current carrying capacity for 70°C. We suggest not using it in crowded enclosed spaces. The HCl gas produced when burning is toxic. It also corrodes equipment.
