Mining Power Cable

Main roadways in coal mines. Transport tunnels. These places have vehicle pressure. Falling rocks. Shovel damage. Ordinary cables without armour get damaged quickly. If there is a leak, it could cause a gas explosion.

Our Mining Power Cable adds double layer galvanized steel tape armour to the MVV cable. It also holds the MA safety mark. It is used in the critical section from the district substation to the working face distribution point.

The inside is XLPE insulated cores. After stranding, we extrude a high strength inner liner. This inner liner is a cushion. It stops the steel tape from cutting the inner insulation when bending.

The armour layer is the core. We use double layer galvanized steel tape. We wrap it with a gap. The steel tape thickness depends on the imaginary diameter before armouring. It is usually 0.2mm to 0.8mm. The wrap gap is not more than 50% of the tape width. This structure effectively absorbs and spreads outside impact energy.

The outer layer is a flame retardant PVC sheath. It protects the steel tape from humid underground air and acidic water corrosion.

The armour layer lets the cable handle side pressure up to 10kN/m. The compression strength is 3 to 4 times that of non armoured cable. It effectively resists vehicle pressure and rock fall impact in underground transport tunnels. This greatly reduces power outages caused by outside damage.

Besides meeting single vertical burning, it also passes the bunched burning test Class C. This ensures that in a group fire, it will not become a path for flame spread. The sheath material is flame retardant PVC. The oxygen index is 30% or more.

The voltage rating is 0.6/1kV to 8.7/10kV. Conductor working temperature is 90°C. Minimum bend radius is 15 times the cable outer diameter. Armoured cables have stricter bend radius requirements.

The steel tape armour layer must be reliably grounded through the ground wire. The ground wire is usually a green and yellow core. This triggers the leakage protection in time if the insulation is damaged.
