Our PVC PVC Power Cable is an old product in the power cable family. Its full name is copper core PVC insulated PVC sheathed power cable. Before XLPE insulation became popular, it dominated the power transmission market for decades. It is suitable for 0.6/1kV low voltage power distribution systems.

The conductor is Class 2 stranded copper conductor. We make it into a compact round or sector shape. Conductivity meets GB/T 3956 requirements.

The insulation is PVC material. The dielectric properties of PVC are not as good as XLPE, but they are good enough for 0.6/1kV voltage level. Its biggest advantage is low processing temperature. The process window is wide. Production cost is low.

The outer layer is a PVC sheath. This provides basic moisture protection and flame retardancy. We can also make an armoured version VV22 for direct burial.

For the same cross section and length, the material cost of VV/VLV cable is 10% to 15% lower than YJV. For temporary power projects with tight budgets and low load factors, this is a significant saving.

But its performance limits are clear. The conductor long term working temperature is only 70°C. During a short circuit (5 seconds max), the allowed temperature is 160°C. This means under full load continuous operation, the current carrying capacity of VV/VLV cable is about 15% lower than YJV. If you force it to carry YJV level current, the insulation will age faster. It may even break down from heat.

The voltage rating is 0.6/1kV. Insulation resistance at 70°C is not less than 0.0367 MΩ·km. Minimum bend radius is 10 times the cable outer diameter for multi core.

We suggest you choose the PVC PVC Power Cable only for retrofit projects with annual operating hours below 2000, large load fluctuations, and no sensitivity to size and weight. For new projects, you should choose the YJV series first.
